Yesterday afternoon while biking the riverbanks of the Salt River I observed two B727s on final approach to Sky Harbor. The first was a magnificent grey whale flying for Northwest (this could have been one of their sports charters) and the other was a Fed Ex freighter. Both were very quiet on approach, but had the distinctive trail of black smoke following them down. With flaps and slats fully extended, they almost look like a bird of prey.
