Midwest Airlines says it will add meal-service options for fee MILWAUKEE (AP) =97 Midwest Airlines said Wednesday it was joining with LSG= =20 Sky Chefs to offer passengers the option of purchasing deli-style=20 breakfast, lunch and dinner selections on its flights starting April 2. The= =20 move comes after the recent announcement that, as part of companywide=20 cost-reduction efforts, the airline was switching to snack service on=20 flights that now offer meal service. Several domestic airlines are testing= =20 the buy-onboard meal concept, but Midwest said it was the only airline that= =20 would offer the service on nearly all of its flights. The In-Flight Cafe=20 service is to offer one selection on breakfast flights and two selections=20 on lunch and dinner flights. They said one example of the breakfast service= =20 will be a Triple Berry Muffin Box for $7. It will include fresh fruit salad= =20 with cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple served with a triple berry muffin,= =20 raspberry yogurt, granola topping, whole wheat croissant and bottled water.= =20 A Chicken Salad Sandwich option for lunch or dinner will include Sonoma=20 chicken salad on a soft croissant served with a salad, apple and bottled=20 water for $10. A Roast Beef Sandwich option for the same price includes roast beef on a=20 ciabatta roll with cheddar cheese, caramelized red onions and horseradish=20 spread on the side, with a salad, apple and bottled water. The meals will=20 not have to be purchased in advance, but Midwest Airlines said it expects=20 to offer an option later through which customers can pay for a meal when=20 making their flight reservations or when checking in for their flights.=20 "Midwest has always had a reputation for offering great food on its=20 flights," said Jill M. Van Leuven, the airline's director of in-flight and= =20 dining services. "Despite the economic realities of today's industry=20 environment, we're very pleased to be able to offer travelers the=20 convenient option of purchasing meals onboard our aircraft." Midwest will=20 continue to offer snack service on all flights that offer beverage service.= =20 Well known for its serving of chocolate-chip cookies, Midwest will also=20 provide cookies around the clock, Van Leuven added. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@xxxxxxxxx Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: http://www.thehummingbirdonline.com TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
