ARLINGTON, Va., Feb 27 (Reuters) - Bankrupt US Airways (UAWGQ) lost $98.6=
million in January on operating revenues of $476 million, which fell sho=
rt of projections for the month, the company said on Thursday.

The No. 7 airline said this week in bankruptcy court that February revenu=
es are also running behind expectations, largely because of the mid-month=
snowstorm that closed airports and slowed air service in the East for th=
ree days.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, US Airways said =
it paid $67 million for fuel in January and $212 million in labor costs. =
Those two items drove operating expenses of $578 million.

Neal Cohen, US Airways chief financial officer, testified in bankruptcy c=
ourt this week that the airline had roughly $470 million in cash on hand.=

US Airways hopes to emerge from bankruptcy protection at the end of March=
with the help of $200 million in emergency financing from its lead inves=
tor and a $1 billion loan mostly backed by the government. =
