Air France pilots' strike forces cancellation of 15 percent of flights

   (02-03) 04:27 PST PARIS (AP) --
A four-day strike by Air France pilots demanding higher pay forced the
airline to cancel 15 percent of its flights on Monday, the company said.
Domestic flights were the main victims of the walkout, which started
Sunday and was to run through Wednesday.
The largest Air France pilots' union, SNPL, joined two smaller unions for
the protest for better pay, an issue that has caused tension since
September. Unions claimed the strike has disrupted up to 50 percent of
flights.
Alternate flights were provided for those passengers who were affected,
and the airline used larger capacity planes on busy routes to keep
disruption to a minimum, an airline press officer said.
