FAA: Weather system will make air travel more efficient WASHINGTON (AP) =97 Air traffic controllers are now using a more accurate=20 system to track weather that will lessen delays for air passengers,=20 according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA said the system=20 is now up and running on air traffic controllers' computer monitors at all= =20 20 air route traffic control facilities which handle traffic at high=20 altitudes. FAA Administrator Marion Blakey said the new Weather and Radar=20 Processor helps controllers steer planes clear of storms. "We can now see=20 the same weather that the pilots see and, as a result, make more informed=20 decisions about rerouting traffic to reduce delays and increase=20 efficiency," Blakey said on Thursday. The system displays weather at three= =20 different altitudes in three different colors. It's more accurate and=20 precise than the technology it replaced, the FAA said. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@escape.ca Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: www.pichemas.com TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
