FAA considers fines for United, Frontier The Federal Aviation Administration is considering an $805,000 fine against United Airlines because its workers used tape to temporarily fix holes in the wing panels of three Boeing 757 jets. The repairs were made in March after inspections found holes, the biggest measuring 2.6 inches in diameter, on wing panels that extend to slow the planes during landings, the FAA said. The agency said it prohibits the use of tape for those repairs because of the size or location of the holes, according to The Denver Post. United said it would fight the fine. The FAA also proposed a $200,000 penalty against Denver-based Frontier Airlines, accusing the airline of violating federal regulations on aircraft weight and balance earlier this year. The FAA alleges Frontier repeatedly violated operations specifications for weight and balance of 15 Boeing 737s between March 20 and March 27.
