Northwest agrees to mileage deal with Japan Airlines

Northwest Airlines said Monday that members of its WorldPerks frequent
flier program may begin redeeming benefits on domestic flights operated by
Japan Airlines, beginning April 1. The agreement allows WorldPerks members
to redeem 15,000 miles for round-trip Economy Class awards on JAL-operated
domestic flights. In September, Northwest announced a separate agreement
with Japanese carrier JAS that allows WorldPerks members to continue to
earn and redeem miles on JAS domestic flights until March 31, 2004.
Northwest operates a hub at Tokyo's Narita Airport that connects several
U.S. gateways to destinations throughout Asia. USA TODAY/AP
