BA gets good results from cost cutting
T'dad Daily News 12.03.02

British Airways exceeded analyst's expectations by announcing a pre-profit
of TT$2.5 billion for the three months up to the end of September, but said
there were still rough times ahead. This result came about after heavy cost
cutting under BA's two-year recovery plan- the Future Size and Shape, which
is geared to reduce costs, restructure its short haul operations to compete
more effectively with no-frills carriers, and reduce complexity in the
business. District Manager Marcelle Joseph said: " These are good results.
Everyone in the company has worked hard to make them that way and should be
proud of what they have achieved." BA is now nine months into the Future
Size and Shape programme and the new low-fare and on-line booking drive is
very popular with customers.
