Air Jamaica utilising new systems

AIR JAMAICA has cutover to Sabre Reservations and Airport Systems as of
last Friday. Over the last six months, Sabre has implemented for Air
Jamaica several advanced products, including the Sabre Passenger
Reservations System, a comprehensive, fully integrated solution that offers
travelers greater ease from booking to boarding. The reservations system
will streamline operations, improve productivity and allow the airline to
increase sales through every sales channel, particularly online bookings,
with the support of GetThere DirectAirline, Sabre's frilly hosted Internet
sales system. Staff members throughout the Air Jamaica system and in all
countries have been trained extensively in the new system including those
in Barbados. In addition to the reservations system, Sabre will implement
airport check-in and departure control technology that will enable
optimised flight schedules, improved weight and balance monitoring,
wireless hand-held passenger check-in and more. These capabilities, coupled
with services offered by Sabre's industry-experienced airline consultants,
will offer Air Jamaica end-to-end services designed to overhaul and upgrade
the airline's technology systems.

The US$10 million system, when deployed, will significantly modernise and
enhance Air Jamaica's Reservations & Airport Systems. Customers will see
faster processing at the ticket offices and Reservations Call Centers,
faster check-in and boarding of flights, E-ticketing, Internet Booking and
Automated Information Services. Staff will benefit from newer and more
efficient technology, the utilisation of both e-mail and teletype, more
efficient interfacing of current computer systems such as Flight operations
and Weight and Balance. The staff at Air Jamaica Barbados have completed
training and system implementation and staff training. More than 70
airlines worldwide currently use Sabre for their reservations systems.
