Worldspan threatens US Airways

Worldspan has threatened to remove US Airways from its GDS.
Worldspan sent a letter to US Airways on 1 November threatening to remove the carrier from its GDS unless US Airways gives it access to the same fares that it has granted to Galileo and Sabre. Worldspan is not offering reduced fees in return for the fares, and has given the airline until 15 November to comply.
A US Airways spokesperson told TravelMole that Worldspan was citing language, which she described as 'vague', from the GDS Participation Agreement, which Worldspan claims allows all GDSs access to the same fares.
The US Airways spokesperson said the carrier was inferring nothing regarding Worldspan's ownership by its competitors, Delta, American and Northwest. She also said the carrier was hoping to work out the disagreement with Worldspan before 15 November.
Last week Sabre and Galileo launched similar deals that offered airlines ten percent reductions in fees in return for access to all fares, including web fares. US Airways was the first carrier to participate in both schemes.
