Brazil Embraer to deliver 8 aircraft to ExpressJet = = = = Monday November 4, 6:31 PM EST = SAO PAULO, Brazil, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Brazil's Embraer (EMBR4) (ERJ), the = world's No. 4 maker of civilian aircraft, said on Monday it was deliverin= g eight jets to Houston-based airline ExpressJet Holdings Inc (XJT). The Brazilian company said in a statement that ExpressJet, which provides= Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL) with regional service at its Houston, Cl= eveland and Newark hubs, would take delivery of the rest of its total ord= er for 18 ERJ 145 XR jets in 2002. Embraer recently said it expected to boost deliveries to 45 commercial, c= orporate and military airplanes in the final quarter of the year, to meet= its year-end target of 135 jets. For the first nine months of 2002, Embraer delivered a total of 90 airpla= nes from its ERJ 135, 140, and 145 commercial lines, its EMB 145 and Lega= cy corporate jets and military turboprop aircraft. The company had slashed its forecast for aircraft deliveries in 2002 to a= total of 135 planes from 205 after the Sept. 11 attacks on the United St= ates slashed demand for air travel and plunged the airline industry into = a steep crisis.
