Off to my old stomping grounds for a business trip to Melbourne. It's of
course cheaper to fly to Orlando, and non-stop at that. I've taken one
trip since the attacks, last November, this is the first of 4 between now
and Thanksgiving. I hope they are all as good as this one.

DL 9661 0730-0945

I got the car parked at 0602, caught a bus, and was in the landside
building at 0615, and was checked in and headed for the checkpoint at
0619. No line at the DL counter, friendly straight forward
service. Security was interesting, took 5 minutes to get to the machines
and 10 minutes to clear them, most of it waiting to go through. They are
not checking ID's anymore, just boarding passes. I had the following with
me that went through X-ray:

Laptop, Cellphone, Pager, two way radio, palm, and my keys.

And they said nothing........

They seamed to ping everyone on something, but I just sailed through, one
of the few. (And that's not a complaint, but I was use to getting pinged
before the 11th for all that stuff, I expect it now). So right through
security, off on the tram, and to the gate by 0650. Now this is Delta
Express, but I had a change of flight number. So I decide to look for the
equipment. And as I suspected, the 73S was replaced by a M88. So I go to
the counter and ask about my seat (Emergency Row on the 73S). Oh no, we
just transferred them over, your in a bulk head, that's ok right? HaHa,
NO. He could not give me the exit row but did give me another isle
seat. Flight had maybe 50 people on it so it was all good in the end, the
only negative blip of the whole trip so far. Flight boarded on time, no
problems, and we blocked out at 0728, off at 0738. The crew was friendly,
offered extra drinks, and the flight itself was nice. We were on at 0922
and in at 0926, my bag was waiting when I got to baggage claim, and to top
it off there was no line at the rental car line I was getting on the Bee
Line at 1000.

So DL did a good job, the airport was not bad, if they could keep this up,
I'd not mind flying. I just hope they keep this up.
