As I flew WN only once, accept my ignorance due to lack
of frequent trips on them :)

Southwest does charge for standby flights.  If you are
on a restricted ticket and desire to go on an earlier
flight or miss your flight, you are charged the
difference between your fare and the unrestricted fare.
