DALLAS, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV

), the nation's top discount carrier, said on Wednesday its August load
factor, or percent of capacity in use, fell to 72.7 percent from 75.8
percent in the same month a year ago.

Dallas-based Southwest said it continues to experience weak full fare
customer demand, and bookings for September are also weak compared to
historical levels.

The company said it flew 4.3 billion revenue passenger miles in Auguest
2002, compared with 4.4 billion a year ago. Available seat miles
increased 3.5 percent to 6 billion from 5.8 billion last August.=20
