Mixed reports on BWIA talks Trinidad Express Despite yet another marathon meeting on Friday night, the conflict between BWIA and its pilots remains unsolved. The latest twist to the dispute over a new collective agreement for the pilot's is that both sides seem to have different opinions on how Friday's meeting at the Ministry of Labour in Port of Spain ended. For his part, bwia's Director of Corporate Communications Clint Williams said yesterday the gap was now narrowing. "As long as there is continuous dialogue to be found, any move toward a solution is a positive movement," he said. But Capt Edward Goddard, chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Association (Talpa), said the parties were not much closer to a solution, at least not on the issue of a new collective agreement. Talpa members are going to their members with the results of the latest round of talks before they hold another meeting with BWIA and the Ministry, Goddard said. Coming out of Friday's meeting he said he thought pilots were so "annoyed, they would not go the extra mile". Talpa has said a bad summer schedule, BWIA mismanagement and poor rostering are to be blamed for the delays and cancellations For some time, they have not been flying on off days or blank days (when they are simply not rostered). Another meeting may be scheduled for next week. Yesterday, one flight, BW469 to Georgetown, Guyana was cancelled but this was not attributed to the dispute.
