EasyJet said it was forced to cancel 28 flights in July because of problems with the roster system, which scheduled cabin and cockpit crews separately, and that will have to cut several more next week. The airline said the cancellations would involve flights which had not been heavily booked. EasyJet also said air traffic control delays and building projects at the airline's base at Luton Airport had added to the difficulties. The airline on Wednesday reported a 61.7 percent jump in passenger numbe= rs in July, compared to the same period last year. Its rapid expansion to take advantage of the European demand for low-cost air travel included the takeover of fellow budget airline Go. The takeover deal passed the final regulatory hurdle last week and the Go brand is scheduled to disappear in early 2003. =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2002 AP
