Air controllers action won't affect travelers

OTTAWA - Canada's air traffic controllers are going to start job action
against their employer, Nav Canada, on Saturday morning, but travelers
won't notice a thing. They're going to stop training new controllers, the
only action they're allowed to take against their employer. For safety
reasons, that's all the Canadian Industrial Relations Board will let them
do, the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association says. The controllers
have been working without a contract for a more than a year. They say
working conditions are the main issue. They're allowed to work six
eleven-hour shifts a week before they get overtime, and "you can make
mistake if you're fatigued," a spokeswoman says. The company says the
dispute is really about money.
