I've not been to Cape town, but I've been to Jo'burg, Durban and the Eastern
Transvaal and geographically, South Africa is a gorgeous country. Flying
over the Drakensburg range from Jo'burg to Durban remains a highlight in my
business travel career. So too were the game parks on a long road trip from
Durban to N'godwana.

On both trips I took BA (bizzclass since someone else was paying <g>), via
LHR. Apart from the usual LHR nonsense (crowds, security breakdown etc),
they were OK trips. The first trip was in the 747-200 days and included a
stop in Nairobi. The second was via 747-400 and was non-stop. The takeoff
from hot-and-high Jo'burg at MGTOW was memorable. I thought we were going
to end up driving to London :-)

The crime rate in SA is high though. Adequate precautions are advised. I
would not travel by road at night unless with someone who knows the area.
Many South Africans are armed now, unfortunately.

I hear Cape Town is great but you must not miss the game parks.
