Every nation has the basic right of self protection. That always means using its own people - nations that depend on the UN for protection speak for themselves. As a naturalized American (i.e. I chose to be an American), I want to be checked out by an American. I find it incomprehensible that I am checked at airport security by a person who cannot speak English properly, although they maybe as American as me (I have grave doubts about this, but will give it a pass). The world is rife with anti-American sentiment now and frankly I don't give a hoot. If you don't like America, leave it, don't buy its products and express yourself in that manner. If your life is enriched by this anti-America policy, great. If you cannot stand Americans defending themselves (after they have defended much of the western world and fed the rest), please find a better planet. I will be pleased to contribute to your one-way ticket. I am proud to be an American and feel absolutely no shame in its greatness - I am thrilled by this nation and its people. Its great to be part of the USA. -----Original Message----- From: The Airline List [mailto:AIRLINE@LISTSERV.CUNY.EDU]On Behalf Of John Kelly Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 7:00 AM To: AIRLINE@LISTSERV.CUNY.EDU Subject: Re: Airport Screeners Hard to Come by So, Baha, are we to assume that because a country wants only its citizens to perform a specific function that we are "fascists?" by your reasoning, that would make many countries on this earth "fascist." I really don't want to go there, but that sounds eerily like a racist comment to me. Although we on the list wish to think of ourselves as "thinking globally," there are times when some national priorities take precedence over an enlightened perspective. The September 11 tragedy has changed many lives in the U.S.; and not for the better, either.
