Earnings and Stock Price Jump at JetBlue July 27, 2002 By BLOOMBERG NEWS Shares in the JetBlue Airways Corporation rose sharply yesterday after the two-year-old discount airline said second-quarter earnings climbed. JetBlue's stock rose $3.65, or 9 percent, to $44.50 a share. The company, which is based in New York, said late Thursday that its income rose to $14.6 million from $10.7 million a year earlier. Per-share earnings were unchanged at 33 cents because the April initial offering increased the shares outstanding. The airline, one of the few carriers earning a profit this year, has expanded while most larger rivals reduced flight capacity after the Sept. 11 attacks. JetBlue's sales rose 90 percent, to $149.3 million from $78.4 million. The airline doubled its seat and flight capacity in the quarter. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/27/business/27JET.html?ex=1028780032&ei=1&en=986923f1123e08d0 HOW TO ADVERTISE --------------------------------- For information on advertising in e-mail newsletters or other creative advertising opportunities with The New York Times on the Web, please contact onlinesales@nytimes.com or visit our online media kit at http://www.nytimes.com/adinfo For general information about NYTimes.com, write to help@nytimes.com.
