Well there are several benefits- first DAL is getting atleast a few hundred bucks for what would otherwise go out empty with 0 bucks and in todays economy especially a few hundred beats 0 hands down. Second you are giving your employees a perk- a real good perk that they truly appreciate and you hope would value enough not to abuse- im sure the abuse level is probably pretty low cause if you lose the privilige, thats gotta majorly suck for you and your family/friends. DL is VERY generous with flight priviliges to employees and retirees, as compared to virtually all other airlines. That they have this "Buddy" thing for ANY designated other party is also interesting. Guess DL wants to get something for a pending empty seat, as opposed to departing with MT seats.
