Richard, They will more than likely have ALL of their airman certificates they possess (if they have others..many pilots do) revoked permantly; not just their Airline Transport Pilot certificates. Unless they go through the process mentioned before on the list concerning they admit they have a problem (to the airline), then they might just have their certificates suspended for a period of time. (depending on HP's drug and alcohol abuse policy). Basically though, their career is over from the information I am gathering. The certificate revocation would probably be the stiff penalty you mention. Side note: Also, when an airman goes to the aviation medical examiner for his/her first or second class medical certificate every six months or 12 months, he/she must report any convictions...and the medical examiner does looks at that section and as does the office in Oklahoma City. Also...not Air West, but America West...:)....(just giving you a difficult time since I see you had it correct in the subject line) Walter ATL ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A Whitenight" <rum.runner@juno.com> To: <AIRLINE@LISTSERV.CUNY.EDU> Sent: Tuesday, July 02, 2002 18:41 Subject: Legally Intoxicated America West Pilots > I've heard that the aircraft was pulled away from the gate and that they > had taxied some of the way to the designated departure runway, but were > then told to return to the gate, where they were arrested for Public > Intoxication.
