A340s to create new airline industry (Trinidad Guardian June 18, 2002) Chairman of BWIA Lawrence Duprey has said the addition of the A340 aircraft to the BWIA fleet was the nucleus of a new airline industry in the Caribbean. Duprey was speaking at the official launch of the A340 aircraft at the company's head quarters at Golden Grove Road on Sunday. Duprey said he saw BWIA not only as a generator of opportunities for flying but also as a provider of parts and do repairs for other airlines. "And so we and bring a better standard of living to the East West corridor... so we cannot say the youth are opportunity-deprived and they are socially-deprived," he said. Duprey added that it was his generation who had to provide job opportunities for the younger generation. A failure to do so, he said would mean he was a failure as a businessman.
