Air Canada - Aeroplan Renews Partnership with Diners Club(R) Canada

     MONTREAL, June 10 /CNW/ - Air Canada's award-winning frequent flyer
program, Aeroplan, today announced the renewal of its longstanding partnership
with Diners Club Canada. The partnership enables holders of Diners Club
Silver, Gold, and Maple Leaf Club(R) cards to continue to earn Aeroplan Miles
for reward travel. As well, Maple Leaf Club cardmembers - who also enjoy
access to Air Canada's Maple Leaf and affiliated airport lounges worldwide -
will gain a significant new benefit as a result of Diners Club's extended
partnership with Aeroplan. Specifically, each year Maple Leaf Club cardmembers
will receive a special two-for-one ticket offer on Air Canada, the details of
which have been circulated to cardmembers.
"We are very pleased to extend our long-term business partnership with
Diners Club Canada," said Rupert Duchesne, President and CEO of Aeroplan. "Our
partnership with Diners Club is consistent with our desire to provide Aeroplan
members with a broad range of vehicles through which to earn reward travel and
other valuable benefits - including our special offer for Maple Leaf Club
cardmembers," he added.
"Diners Club first began offering Aeroplan Miles in 1989," said Yvon
Dallaire, Managing Director, Canada for Diners Club North America. "The
renewal of this agreement guarantees our cardmembers continued access to this
highly valued frequent flyer program. We are delighted to continue our
business partnership with Aeroplan."
Aeroplan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Canada, is one of the world's
premier loyalty programs. In fact, in a recent poll of the world's most
experienced air travellers conducted by OAG, Aeroplan was voted the world's
best frequent flyer program. More than six million members earn Aeroplan Miles
toward reward travel to destinations served by Air Canada, its regional
airline, Air Canada Jazz, and worldwide partner airlines comprising the Star
Alliance network. Aeroplan Miles earned on Star Alliance flights count toward
achieving top-tier membership status. In addition, members earn Miles through
an extensive network of car rental companies, hotels, telephone companies,
affinity credit card companies, a variety of retail organisations and through
all purchases on Canada's newest online travel site, Destina.ca .
The Diners Club card is the only one in Canada to focus its services
primarily on the business and leisure traveller and affluent consumer. A broad
range of industries as well as governments call upon Diners Club to help them
manage their business travel and entertainment expenses. Individual
cardmembers take advantage of accumulating Aeroplan Miles for every dollar of
purchases charged to the card, while enjoying a comprehensive set of
outstanding card benefits designed specifically for the business and leisure
traveller. Diners Club is a division of Citibank Canada and a member of
Citigroup.
