Jun 7, 2002 The growing threat of war between India and Pakistan has prompted the Japanese foreign ministry to charter a plane to fly its nationals out of New Delhi on Monday and forced Japan Airlines to change its schedules. The move comes after reports that commercial flights from India are fully booked and seats have become scarce. Japan's largest carrier, JAL, has temporarily cut back on services between Tokyo and New Delhi. The airline says it is canceling one of its weekly flights between the two cities. JAL Flight 471 from Tokyo on June 13 has been canceled together with the return flight from New Delhi, JL472. Both services have been re-scheduled for the following Monday, June 17.Flights to and from Pakistan are, at the moment, unaffected. In common with a number of other countries, Japan has been advising its nationals to leave the region unless they have exceptional reasons for remaining. A similar warning has been issued by the UK government. The Japanese Foreign Ministry confirmed that a charter is being arranged because of complaints that scheduled services are fully booked. Officials are contacting Japanese nationals to find out how many want to take the charter flight. Leo/ORD Email me @ KLM_India@yahoo.com or LFutia@aol.com I check both!
