<<Maybe the future for the T/A is better than for the GDS - they are going to suffer from airlines refusing to pay the fees (BA is rumored to be dropping one GDS!) and T/A's don't really need the GDS anymore.>> When web based solutions with full blown capability are unleashed (and they're unleashing daily -- FareChase, ExCambia, etc., are all in recent news) then, yeah, GDSs as we know them will cease to exist -- as distribution systems. They will *always* be around as inventory, scheduling, and crew management machines. No real proven ways to get around that -- yet. Travel agents -- which ones are we discussing? Small leisure business may always have a place for human touch. But at what price, and what level of added value? Corporate solutions are already up and running and expanding. I think the top 6 agencies have a huge share of the corporate market out there, and their numbers are dropping as they consolidate. (McCord/WTP/BTI's combination makes them newly #2 behind AMEX). Agreed -- the GDSs are dying and along with them the paths of dependencies they created. But I think it will be a long slow death... kinda like EA or PA. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Sign-up for Video Highlights of 2002 FIFA World Cup
