LOUIS (AP) -- One of the last and most visual reminders of now-defunct Trans World Airlines is being packed away. St. Louis-based flight attendants who formerly worked for TWA are getting new American Airlines uniforms, American Airlines officials said Monday. The new clothes began showing up over the weekend at St. Louis Lambert Airport, the former hub of TWA and now a hub for American Airlines. The 3,200 flight attendants made up the largest TWA workgroup and were among the last to go to the American Airlines uniforms. American purchased St. Louis-based TWA last year. Pilots and airport agents began wearing American Airlines uniforms in January. Later this year, the former TWA flight attendants will begin training in American Airlines policies and procedures, American Airlines officials said. After that training is complete, the former TWA attendants will be able to work on any American Airlines aircraft. Still wearing the old TWA wings are mechanics, who change uniforms later this year. =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2002 AP
