On July 2nd, three will begin service to Salvador, the State capital - two from Madrid, Spain, and one from Milan, Italy. The others will start in September: three from Lisbon, Portugal, one from Frankfurt, Germany, and another from Paris, France. The flight from the US will originate in Miami. Through the end of the year, Bahia will have 14 weekly regularly scheduled flights from Europe and the US, as well as five from Argentina already in operation. The initiative is a result of an agreement established between the State government and Varig. "These flights have the capacity to bring 220 passengers each and will substantially increase tourism in the State," said Mauro Figueiredo, International Marketing manager for Bahiatursa.
