Four SPs were originally ordered for the Pacific division as they offered more range than the 100s and 200s. Of course the enormous amounts of money spent on the fuel thirsty 747s to destinations where sometimes the crew outnumbered paying passengers caused BN to shut down the Pacific division altogether.
