It's official...UAL and the rest of the big boys are becoming more meaningless as Southwest Airlines announced today non-stop transcontinental service between BWI and LAX beginning 9/15. The introductory fare is a yield busting $99 one way and service is on one of their new B737-700s. This now becomes Southwest's longest route at 2329 miles - the old record was 2277 miles between Phoenix and Providence, RI. With additional routes and frequencies announced today, Southwest has accepted 18 of their 19 NG's for 2002. Gotta LUV it!
