Dennis, Ideally you're right and I think we'd all agree. I've worked with some excellent employee and supervisors/managers. I = think when we take common sense out of employee relations we are doomed = to fail, either side. We take our most promising employees that have = the respect of the peers and have demonstrated sound judgement put them = into management/supervison and try to mold them with a cookie cutter. = We've just lost the best skills they have. I've seen this happen many = times. But on the reverse sidde I've seen the Peter Principal in action = on many occassions. I agree the union protects the worker from over = zealous supervisors. As I used to tell the employees remember a = contract is a two edged sword.
