There is/was a requirement that if you closed an airport you were liable = for all FAA Airport Improvement funds (normally 90% of any project). = This covered the last 20 years. Each time the airport accepted the = money it automatically renewed all other grants..=20 Not to many airport owners could afford that type of an expense.
