Six Canadians killed in Cuban plane crash Last Updated Fri, 15 Mar 2002 1:11:32 HAVANA - Six Canadians were among 17 people killed when their plane crashed in central Cuba Thursday afternoon. Cuban aviation authorities notified the Canadian Embassy in Havana, said a Foreign Affairs spokesperson. On board were six Canadians, including a child, five Britons, two Germans and four Cubans. The plane, described as a state-run Aerotaxi, went down about 4:30 p.m. local time near Santa Clara, about 105 kilometres east of the capital Havana. It was travelling from Cienfuegos to the island resort of Cayo Coco when it crashed near Baez. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
