There are numerous weird things about the PR.

Capacity of course can be measured in total # of aircraft, ASMs etc. But there's no evidence that UAL is cutting back oth=
er hub flights, if anything I've noticed a few more flights from other hubs. (i.e. The 7:15am IAD-ATL is back)

Other weird things. ORD->ATL is noted as having 11 flights (9UAL, 2UAX) I can't find any evidence of any UAX flights of a=
ny type operating in and out of ATL (ever for that matter! The UAL terminal area has a hard time with short little 733s)

One thing UAL has been doing now that is different from last summer is that not all planes participate in a 'bank.' Aircr=
aft used to land in O'hare and 45 minutes later head out again. Now, some flights are sitting on the ground for 3 hours.

The PR sounds good though, and that is what it is all about!

One other question about these additions at O'Hare comes to mind. United
says in the press release, which is now up on their own web site, that:
There will be no new net gain to United's system capacity as a result of
the expanded O'Hare schedule. For the second quarter, United's system
capacity will be down 16-17 percent year over year

If there's "no new net gain", that implies that there will be contractions
in other markets. Are they trimming from each of their other hubs in the
USA (SFO, DEN, LAX, IAD, MIA), or is one of their hubs being hit in particular?

Nick
