By this summer Phoenix based America West Airlines will be almost at 100% of their flight schedule pre 9/11. New non-stops are planned for LAS where Cactus seems to be drawing a line in the desert sand with Southwest and National Airlines. The carrier, flush with federal bailout money, has seen a steady increase in ridership this year and has significantly improved it's on-time performance. Meanwhile negotiations between Cactus pilots and the carrier continue at a snails pace. In addition to seeking financial parity with their airborne brethern, AmWest jet jockeys will undoubedtly want to address the Scope issue . Right now management thinks that's a mouthwash as evidenced by the the proliferation of service by AmericaWest Express (operated primarily by Mesa Airlines). My those RJs are poppin' up all over the Cactus route system these days in small and big markets!! RT Simpson Phoenix
