Airbus Is Financing Deal February 21, 2002 By REUTERS LONDON, Feb. 20 (Reuters) - Airbus, the European aircraft maker, has arranged more than $1 billion in financing for Virgin Atlantic Airways of Britain to preserve a longstanding order for a new line of jets. A spokesman for Virgin Atlantic said today that the 10 A340-600 aircraft would be acquired under an operating lease through Airbus. Airbus is cutting the price, the airline spokesman said, but Airbus disputed that, saying the price was unchanged. The catalog value of the planes would total about $1.9 billion, but buyers routinely get discounts. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/02/21/business/21VIRG.html?ex=1015328126&ei=1&en=cfb6bdc1b1bfe40c HOW TO ADVERTISE --------------------------------- For information on advertising in e-mail newsletters or other creative advertising opportunities with The New York Times on the Web, please contact onlinesales@nytimes.com or visit our online media kit at http://www.nytimes.com/adinfo For general information about NYTimes.com, write to help@nytimes.com.
