After the events of 9/11, Southwest Airlines was the only major carrier not to cut their flight frequencies and layoff employees. However they decided to defer 2002 deliveries of B737-700's until business and the economy picked up. Guess what? Two of the NG's won't be wintering in the desert, but will be delivered to LUV for added capacity along the east coast in February '02. My guess is the other 17 won't sit out the rest of the year either as the Airline Industry is beginning to see signs of life. In fact even Gordon "The Sky Is Falling" Bethune has predicted his carrier will make money in Q2 '02! Today's news certainly will make it a merrier Christmas!
