I don't know that MSVC is supported by Autotools. It would be nice if it was. Have you seen a statement that this is supported?

I should mention that I do recall that there is (historically) at least one add-on wrapper program on top of MSVC which allows MSVC to be used to some extent with Autotools. This is not GNU-supported software.
