re: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=71184 Summary: RFE: 2X to 6X faster install As per the above RequestForEnhancement (RFE), I believe that installation of .rpm packages could go much faster. I'm sending this message to the yum and anaconda-devel mailing lists in order to try to find the right people, and to get comments and suggestions on how to accomplish such work now. (If I found the wrong groups, then please tell me so I won't bother you further.) It seems to me that there is significant technical opportunity for pipelining, parallelism, and caching. See the RFE above, and: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431757 Summary: caching needed when "Starting install process." I have some time to work in this area now, and I've also detected renewed interest by other people. How can we work effectively to achieve the goal of much faster package installation? -- John Reiser, jreiser@xxxxxxxxxxxx _______________________________________________ Yum mailing list Yum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/mailman/listinfo/yum
