[Yum] proxy in yum.conf -- Bad Idea?

That is not a valid url.  You want
   http://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:3128

Those are not the environment variables.

   http_proxy

> used panel->system->preferences->network proxy
>     to set automatic proxy configuration

I don't know what that does.
