I?m trying to install yum on an Enterprise Linux 4 system? Linux version 2.6.9-5.EL (bhcompile@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) (gcc version 3.4.3 20041212 (Red Hat 3.4.3-9.EL4)) #1 Wed Jan 5 19:22:18 EST 2005 Python 2.3.4 I downloaded the yum-2.4.3.tar.gz (from duke) and unzipped it. Read the INSTALL file which encouraged me to build an rpm. I?ve never done this before ? but I downloaded the yum-2.4.3-1.src.rpm and ? # rpmbuild --rebuild yum-2.4.3-1.src.rpm Installing yum-2.4.3-1.src.rpm warning: user skvidal does not exist - using root warning: group skvidal does not exist - using root error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/yum-2.4.3.tar.gz;44abe96c: cpio: read error: yum-2.4.3-1.src.rpm cannot be installed Thanks for anything you can give me. BTW, why doesn?t the duke yum website have a section called ?How to install YUM??
