There are dozens if not hundreds of different repositories, not counting mirrors, and problems within the repository (such as broken links and incorrect repository setups) do not directly concern the updater. Yum is not a project of Terrasoft, which is the company that makes Yellowdog Linux, it's a separate project entirely, used by many distributions.
