Let's see, the last time I ran Lindows it was 2.x or 3.x, I chose an app to install. It automatically downloaded that app, figured out dependencies and modified for those, and installed, and ran. Linspire is now up to at least 4.5 and I would hope that they wouldn't digress backwards to an unusable cnr. Did I miss something? The only catch I see with Linspire is if your app is not in the warehouse, then you normally have to download and ./configure, make, and make install. And hope that you have all the supporting libraries or go download those as well. But, they have a large repository of apps and if you need one that's not there then you're probably not a "basic" user anyway.
