Why do I get the 404 ? It might not be your problem, but make sure your proxy is set exactly as: http_proxy="http://foo.bar.com:666/"; I saw something similar on a box where http_proxy was set incorrectly as "foo.bar.com:666" or "http://foo.bar.com:666"; or something like that.... later, chris
