Yum consideres "obsoletes" when you do "upgrade". It does not when you do update. That is, if you have a package that claims to obsolete another package, the new one will be installed with an "upgrade". > If I execute yum upgrade at redhat 7.3, then my system > is upgraded with 9.0? It has been done and it may go smoothly. Search the archives of this list for more details. > * When I execute "yum update", is ther any dependencies problem? > If some dependencies problem occurs, the system will be unstable. The whole purpose of yum is to address dependency problems. Yum update will take care of the dependencies for you, or it will do nothing and complain loudly if it cannot. -Michael -- Michael Stenner Office Phone: 919-660-2513 Duke University, Dept. of Physics mstenner@xxxxxxxxxxxx Box 90305, Durham N.C. 27708-0305
