FWIW, I've been talking a little with seth. One bad bug is squished
(x86_64 would never be detected as the active architecture), and a
little workaround makes sure it can install i386 packages as well.

Still to solve is packages existing in both package sets (i386 and
x86_64) sometimes with a partially overlapping set of files.
