Hi, I've been in the same boat - and got around this by putting the base os + updates in one config file, and the additions in another. The first gets called with yum -c /path/to/config/file/one -d0 -e0 -y update the second gets yum -c /path/to/config/file/two -d0 -e0 -y install \* or some such.
