I think I can say this comfortably:

the above feature request is far more than I would want to take on
w/this project.

it goes beyond the scope of my interest and/or abilities. If others wish
to do things like this I think they are wasting their time and would be
better off working with the folks at red hat on advancing the
interactivity (or capabilities) of rpm but I'll be more than glad to
watch them work on it.


All I intended to do when working on yum was replace yup.

I did that. It more or less works. There are about 3 features left until
the task that I wanted to achieve is complete. Things that I work on
after that are based on:

1. if I think the idea is really useful to me/physics/duke.
2. if I think they idea is terribly cool.
3. if I think A LOT of other people will find the idea terribly cool.
4. if the idea does not cause me anguish and pain to think about what it
would entail to do it.
5. if someone provides a patch to do it that doesn't turn all the code
into spaghetti munge.
