I did some appliance boot timings of libvirt vs direct qemu boot from libguestfs, and essentially libvirt makes no measurable difference, which is all good news. I'm going to push my current libvirt backend upstream in libguestfs 1.19.23. It includes a number of fixes over the posted patches.
