I just had a chat with spice folks and learnt that gitlab.com provides a CI system with free shared runners. The key difference from travis, is that gitlab supports a choice of docker images to use, but does not support os-x. So we could drop ubuntu from travis, leaving just the os-x builder, and enable use of some docker images under gitlab, to get an equiv level of coverage. In fact I wonder if we can reuse the ansible scripts we have to build suitable docker images ?
